Ms. Sherry is the administrator of the Academy of Early Learning. She has been in the education/counseling field for over ten years. Ms. Sherry received a BS in psychology from George Mason University and a MA in counseling from Liberty University. Her overall goal for AEL is to ensure that each student receives an excellent education in a nurturing environment. On a personal note, she has been married for over fifteen years and has two wonderful children.

Ms. Barb has been happily employed at the Academy of Early Learning for over twenty years. Many of those years have been spent as a Lead Teacher in the young three's classroom. However, she has stepped out of the classroom and moved from that role and is currently AEL's Director. Although she enjoys her current position, she misses the classroom and if you cannot find her at the front desk, you may find her in the nearest class working with the children. Whether in the kitchen, classroom or at the front desk, Ms. Barb enjoys working with and teaching children. On a more personal level, she was born and raised in New York and moved to Virginia Beach over twenty-one years ago as a military wife. She and her husband Daniel have two wonderful boys of their own, James and Jeremy. As a parent, Ms. Barb knows you may have many questions about the curriculum and daily activities that your child is involved in. Please feel free to stop by the front lobby, where she will be waiting to answer any questions and hopefully get to know you better.

Ms. Diane is the person that you may see at the front desk in the morning greeting you with a smile and a good morning everyday for you, in hopes that this will set off your day just right. She is here to answer any questions that you may have about our wonderful school or if you should have any questions about your account you may speak with her anytime.

Ms. Diane joined AEL in early 2004 as business manager. As business manager of Academy of Early Learning and Kings Grant, Ms. Diane manages accounts receivable, credit and collections functions, ensuring timely processing of billings, payments, and collections for our program revenue. She also oversees financial planning, acquisition, corporate development, and finance support for all business operations.

The Following are a few rules I like to live by:

Make eye contact. When someone is speaking, keep your eyes on him or her at all times. If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person.
If you win or do well at something, do not brag. If you lose, do not show anger. Instead, say something like, "I really enjoyed the competition, and I look forward to playing you again," or "Good game," or don't say anything at all. To show anger or sarcasm, such as "I wasn't playing hard anyway. You really aren't that good," shows weakness.
If you are asked a question in conversation, you should ask a question in return.
If someone asks, "Did you have a nice weekend?" you should answer the question and then ask a question in return. It is only polite to show others that you are just as interested in them as they are in you.

We thank you for your interest in AEL and KGDS or being a part of AEL and KGDS family we look forward to many years of superior education together.

Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.  ~Mark Twain, Following the Equator

If you don't have a smile, I'll give you one of mine! Ms. Diane

Ms. Clevie has been with the school since August 1990 and is here early everyday to greet your children first thing in the morning. She has three sons who, she is proud to say, have given her four grandchildren. However, since none of her family live in the area, she has a lot of extra love to go around.

I've been with the Academy since August 1990. I enjoy the A BEKA curriculum and our four year old program. Children at this age are so eager to learn. I am originally from Queens, New York. My family and I have been here since 1990. We moved here with the Navy and my husband is now retired. I have a son and I enjoy the shorter winter months.

I was raised by my grandmother and aunt. I graduated in 2005 from Princess Anne High School and I was a 2005 debutante. I am currently taking classes at Tidewater Community College for my Early Childhood Certification.

"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it"
This is my motto and principle in life. I love teaching and seeing the children learn and play it really makes my heart grow. I'm Ms. Sally I have beautiful family my husband and I have two boys Phil and Matthew. I have been with the Academy since 1997.

Hi, I'm Luz Perez , also known as Lucy, Office Manager for AEL. I was born & raised in New York City, am the mother of three, two dogs & 1 cat. I worked in a head start in New York for three years as Administration Assistant and also as a Teacher's Assistant. Prior to joining AEL I worked at  a daycare in Virginia Beach for two years as an infant teacher. I love working with children & their families.

Ms. Sophia earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Physical Education with a minor in Dance. A graduating from ODU in 1998, Ms. Sophia taught all forms of dance at The Virginia Performing Arts Academy. In 2001 Ms. Sophia began working for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a middle school Health & Physical Education teacher. During her teaching career, Ms. Sophia received several honors ranging from showcasing her choreography in the International Tattoo festival, as well as being a committee member in revising the Health and Physical Education curriculum for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Ms. Sophia is the Starz Director.

The Starz Program consits of two top-quality classes: a sports skills class and a dance class. Each class is approximately forty-five minutes in duration and is taught on the same day and time each week.

The Sports Skills class encompasses skill development for various sports activites such as basketball, T-ball, soccer and much more.

The Dance class builds rhythmic skills, introduces ballet fundamentals, as well as reinforces early learning skills.

My name is Ms. Katie Minor and I am a wife and mother of 14. I am a kindergarten teacher so 12 of them are my students. I have 2 children of my own, a son, Dominic, and a daughter, Iyana. I have gone to school for many years for preK-3 education and special education. I hope to earn more degrees in the future. Though I have been working at AEL for a short time, I love it here and absolutely love the work I do.
